BrianMacleans Primary School is a co-educational school providing a quality education for the children who attend.

Opened in 1974 as a variable space school, it was called Murvale Primary until 1994. The school was built on the Murvale farm that was owned by the Macleans family - so both names relate back to the original owners of the land.

Macleans is now a single cell school catering for the varied learning needs of a wide range of ethnic groups.

In line with our school motto - "together - the best we can be", the school is a child centered environment offering purposeful learning programming, catering for children with special abilities, learning needs and those who need support in learning English.

The school places high priority on parent and staff working together to provide a high standard of education for the children. We encourage learning through working in partnership with home, school and the community. Macleans Primary has an open door policy that welcomes parents' involvement.

Our key goals in fulfilling our vision of learning to be, learning to learn, learning to live together are to:

  • foster a happy, supportive and safe environment that encourages the development of confident and responsible individuals.
  • provide quality teaching and learning programmes that enable children to learn how to learn and achieve personal excellence.
  • encourage in children a pride in their own culture and respect for the values and cultures of others.

Macleans Primary has a professional, experienced and dedicated staff who are highly skilled and who work to assist each child develop his or her full potential. Children will be educated in a caring, stable and disciplined environment, which encourages them to do their best at all times. Your children will benefit from being taught by a member of this enthusiastic team charged with implementing the school Vision.

The school provides programmes for children with special abilities and caters equally for those who need remedial work.

I urge you to avail yourselves of the open friendliness of Macleans Primary and invite you to contact the staff or myself over any matter, which may concern you as a parent.
