On the 8th March 2011 there was a swimming competition held at the Howick Intermediate School Pool. Macleans Primary sent a team of swimmers. When they got there they went to the grass area that was by the pool to wait until it was their heat. The Year Six went to do their heat first and then Year Fives & Fours. Two students from Macleans Primary came second in the finals.  Andre came second in the 8 Year Old Boys Novice Freestyle and William came second in the 9 Year Old Boys Freestyle.

"I was amazed when I came first in my semi-final heat and then placing second in the finals! When it was my heat I felt quite scared and nervous." said a very pleased Andre.

"I also felt nervous before my heat and felt awesome when I finished second in the finals," said a jubilant William.
