UNIFORM RATIONALE:
  • The Macleans Primary compulsory school uniform is to be worn by pupils attending the school to promote a positive school image.

PURPOSES:

To help develop pride in oneself and in the school.
To assist the development of a corporate spirit.
To assist with ease of identification when out of the school.
To encourage the concept of appropriate dress for physical activities.

GUIDELINES:

  • All children are expected to wear the correct school uniform. The winter  option may be worn between Easter and Labour Weekend.
  • Sun Hats - The students will wear royal blue slouch hats when outside from Labour Weekend to Easter.  This includes going to and from school.  Children not wearing the regulation school hat will have to sit in the shade when outside.
  • Children, who for religious reasons, are required to wear special garments are expected to wear garments in the school colours.
  • Phys Ed Uniform must be worn by all children leaving the school for sports interchanges and is expected to be worn as part of the Year 3-6 PE programme.
  • Phys Ed Uniform is not to be worn in place of the regular school uniform.
  • If a child is not wearing a regulation school uniform, a note should be sent to the class teacher giving the reasons.
  • If, in the opinion of the Principal, insufficient reasons are given for the lack of uniform then parents will be notified and requested to comply with the school policy.

    In a case of financial hardship the Board of Trustees will be called upon to remedy the situation.

    Variations to the uniform are at the discretion of the Board.

UNIFORM OPTIONS:

Summer Uniform

Boys:
Monogrammed gold knit polo shirt with collar
Monogrammed blue shorts
Monogrammed royal blue polar-fleece sweatshirt. White or Navy ankle socks
Black, or White or black/white shoes or sandals.
Regulation royal blue slouch style sunhat

Girls:
The school pinafore style dress in the blue check fabric. This can be worn with or without a shirt under it.
Monogrammed gold knit polo shirt with collar
Monogrammed royal blue polar-fleece sweatshirt White or Navy ankle socks
Black, or White or black/white shoes or sandals.
Regulation royal blue slouch style sunhat

Winter Option
Monogrammed gold knit long-sleeved polo shirt Shoes, not sandals, are to be worn with the winter option
Boys:
Monogrammed blue cotton trousers
Girls:
Monogrammed navy bootleg trousers
Tartan skirt, Navy blue tights or white or navy ankle socks to be worn with skirt

PHYS ED UNIFORM:

(Year 3 to 6 only)
Macleans Primary printed shirt and blue shorts.

UNIFORM PRESENTATION:

To help children develop pride in themselves and their school we request that:
-  Uniform shirts may be worn out. They should be tucked in when wearing a sweatshirt so as not to show beneath the sweatshirt.
-  PE shirts are worn loose
-  Undergarments should not show at the neckline
-  Bootlegs, three-quarter pants or leg-warmers are not to be worn under the tunic or skirt.
-  Sweatshirts/jackets should not be tied around the waist
-  Long hair be fastened back with a simple hair tie in school colours  
-  Hair is not colour enhanced
-  Girls wearing shorts under their tunics, wear PE shorts or similar
-  Shoes are to be kept clean and to be worn to and from school
-  Socks and tights are not to be worn together. Let warmers are not part of the uniform.

There is to be:
-  No jewellery - apart from watches or plain ear studs
-  No nail polish
-  No adhesive tattoos
-  No open backed footwear.

Polo shirts - short sleeved (style 717200 - Gold), long-sleeved - (style 717203 - Gold).
Regulation Sunhat (style 6691 - Royal)

Second hand uniform sales are available from the school office.
